Abstract

On January 1, 2020, O.V. Minina, a senior researcher of precious metals department, PhD, a top expert in applied metallogeny, base and precious metal deposit forecasting, prospecting and assessment, celebrated her 80th anniversary.

O.V. Minina has worked in the institute since 1968. She was involved in styding pyrite deposits of the South and Middle Urals (Oktyabrskoye, Yubileinoye, Podolskoye, Novo-Semenovskoye, Krasnogvardeiskoye, etc.). In 1977, she supported a PhD thesis.

Since 1978, O.V. Minina has been involved in comprehensive study of the Urals porphyry copper deposits (Salavatskoye and Mikheevskoye), Tekhut in the Caucasus, Kalmakyr, Dalnee, Northwestern Balykty, Kyzata and Nizhnekauldinskoye in the Central Asia. Since 2007, she has been responsible for implementing federal programs focused on establishing modern small- to mid-scale basics of forecasting for porphyry copper and associated Au-Ag deposits within Russia, primarily in its northeastern part. As a coauthor, she compiled a series of small- and mid-scale forecast map of the Urals and Far East Federal Districts, Magadan and Amur regions, Khabarovsk and Kamchatka territories, etc. (porphyry copper ores) and Lebedinsky ore placer cluster (primary gold). Potential of areas identified based on her recommendations was proved by exploration, which resulted in measured and indicated copper and gold resource localization.

O.V. Minina major activities are centered on establishing scientific and methodical basics of base and precious metal deposit forecasting; this work involves development of geological and prospecting models for ore districts, fields and deposits. She coauthored monographs on copper-pyrite and porphyry copper deposit models and a series of manuals on these deposits forecasting, prospecting and assessment.

O.V. Minina is a highly skilled researcher. She prepared over 170 publications including presentations at scientific conferences. She coauthored many reports as part of federal and contract projects. Her long-term work was awarded special rewards (badges and prizes).

We congratulate O.V. Minina on her anniversary and wish her good health and every success.
