History
The scientific and technical journal "Ores and Metals" was founded on December 21, 1992. Then, on the initiative of the deputy director of TsNIGRI A. I. Krivtsov, the institute's management decided to create a new printed publication designed to inform the geological community about significant achievements in the field of studying mineral resources. Thus, TsNIGRI became the founder and permanent publisher of the journal "Ores and Metals". Over the past three decades, the journal has published more than 1,750 scientific articles by leading specialists in the domestic geological exploration industry and researchers from foreign countries.
Today, the editorial board is international, and this creates favorable conditions for improving the quality of published articles, expanding the circle of authors and readership. Our authors include specialists from all key scientific institutes of the Russian Federation, as well as universities, research and mining companies in Russia and the world. A wide range of issues are discussed in the publications related to subsoil use, economics and market conditions of mineral resources, methods of forecasting, prospecting and evaluating deposits, integrated use of mineral resources, and exploration technologies. Special issues of the journal "Ores and Metals" in different years were devoted to the strategy for the development of the geological industry in the mining regions of Russia, the main scientific and technical achievements of TsNIGRI, revaluation of the Sukhoi Log gold deposit, etc. In addition, a number of issues of the journal were published in memory of outstanding geologists, the scientific and applied significance of their creative heritage. "Ores and Metals" was an information sponsor of many scientific and practical conferences, meetings and symposia on geological topics.
For 15 years, the journal "Ores and Metals" has been included in the List of Russian peer-reviewed scientific journals by the Higher Attestation Commission, in which the main scientific results of dissertations for the academic degrees of DrSc and PhD should be published.
Since 2021, the journal "Ores and Metals" has been published with the support of the International Association for the Genesis of Ore Deposits (IAGOD) and publishes articles in Russian and English.
