Reviewing algorithm
- All manuscripts of scientific articles received by the editorial board of the journal "Ores and Metals" are subject to the procedure of mandatory bilateral anonymous peer review. This type of scientific examination implies that neither the authors nor the reviewers are aware of each other's identity.
- The received article is preliminarily checked by the Editor-In-Chief for compliance with the minimum requirements - the thematic concept of the journal and the design requirements. If the design requirements are not met, a letter shall be sent to the authors with a request to submit the manuscript in proper form.
- Manuscripts of articles that do not correspond to the thematic concept of the journal are not accepted for further consideration, of which the authors are informed within 2 weeks.
- If the manuscript received by the editorial board meets all the minimum requirements, the article is sent for review to one or more experts with the scientific specialization closest to the topic of the article.
- The editors reserve the right to reject manuscripts of articles without review in case of a low scientific level of the research.
- The articles are reviewed by invited Russian and foreign experts in the relevant subject area, as well as by members of the editorial board of the journal. The decision on the selection of a reviewer is made by the Editor-In-Chief or his deputy.
- The average review period in the journal "Ores and Metals" is 1 month. This period may be extended at the request of the reviewer or due to the need for additional expert assessment. Authors are notified of the extension of the review period.
- Reviewers are informed that the manuscripts sent to them are the private property of the authors and contain information that is not subject to disclosure.
- After the Editorial Board allowed the paper for publication, the executive secretary informs the author about this decision and announces the publication period.

Upon completion of the examination, the editorial board asks the reviewer to provide the following recommendations:
- accept the manuscript for publication in its current form;
- suggest the author (authors) to make changes to improve the quality of the article;
- suggest that the manuscript shall be reviewed by another independent specialist;
- rejectthemanuscript.
- The Editorial Board requests a reviewer to consider the following aspects as part of the review: a) compliance of the paper content with modern achievements in the field of science under consideration; b) novelty and scientific importance of the obtained results; c) advantages and disadvantages of the paper; d) quality of the illustrations; e) forms of presentation of the material, including the quality of the bibliographic references, compliance of the article content with its title, etc.
- Reviews are sent to the authors of the articles to get acquainted with the examination result.
- In case authors refuse to make corrections as required by reviewers, the Editorial Board asks them to report their decision to refuse paper publication, in writing or orally.
- If reviews contain recommendations for paper correction and revision, the executive secretary sends the reviews to the author, offering to consider these recommendations when preparing a new paper version or refute them convincingly. Correction period is limited to two months. The revised paper is resubmitted for review.
- If the authors do not submit the revised paper after two months since the date they received the review results, the Editorial Board retracts the paper and offers the authors to resubmit it, with all review stage remaining in force.
- In case one of the reviewers did not recommend the paper for publication, the Editorial Board can send it to another reviewer for additional peer review.
- Positive reviews do not always guarantee the paper publication, because the Editor-in-Chief finally approves publication.
- Papers rejected by reviewers cannot be resubmitted to “Ores and Metals”.
- After the Editorial Board allowed the paper for publication, the executive secretary informs the author about this decision and announces the publication period.
- Any conflicts arising in the review process are settled by the Editor-in-Chief.
- Original reviews of submitted manuscripts remain deposited during the period of 5 years.
- There is no fee for reviewing manuscripts.
