S. S. DvurechenskayaAbstract
On December, 5, 2019, S.S. Dvurechenskaya, a top TsNIGRI expert in petrography and ore mineralogy, celebrated her 70th anniversary.
After graduating from the Moscow Geological Prospecting Institute in 1972, she worked as a geologist in Prilenskaya crew where she was involved in uranium deposit prospecting and exploration. Since 1979, she has worked in TsNIGRI. Her main research area was base and precious metal ore composition study. She led mineralogical and technological mapping of some Au-Ag deposits in the northeastern Russia, developed a unique oxide ore delineation technique and recognized the reasons for the technological property dependence on mineral composition. As a result of this work, she supported a PhD thesis, “Mineralogy of a hypergene zone at a gold-silver deposit in the northeastern USSR”.
In recent years, S.S. Dvurechenskaya performed extensive mineralogical and petrographic studies of rocks, ores and metasomatites at numerous Russian gold deposits; this works aims to clarify mineral composition of gold deposits and ore deposition sequence, determine productive mineral assemblages and modes of metal occurrence in ores. The results of these studies are used in elaborating the best gold processing flowsheets and interpreting wallrock metasomatic and mineralogical halo zoning in prospecting. The data obtained by these works enables validation of geological/genetic and ore formation mineralization styles and updating geological and prospecting models.
The immense contribution by S.S. Dvurechenskaya to the industry development was rewarded by government certificates and “Excellent subsurface explorer” badge (2013).
As a highly skilled specialist, she spends a lot of time to consulting and assisting young researchers.
S.S. Dvurechenskaya is an author of many research reports and 75 scientific papers, with 9 of them in «MineraliumDeposita» and «OreGeologyReviews» journals (2017-2019) as well as a monograph, “Silver deposits’ hypergene minerals” (2001). This book resulted from years of specialized studies. It made a notable contribution to ore deposit hypergenesis theory and widely used by mineralogists who study oxide ores.
We congratulate S.S. Dvurechenskaya on her anniversary, wish her good health, happy family existence and new success in science.
