“Ores and Metals” journal was first published on December 21, 1992. The founder and publisher of the journal is the Federal State Budgetary Institution Central Research Institute of Geological Prospecting for Base and Precious Metals (129-1 Varshavskoye Sh., Moscow 117545).

The journal is published every three months. The content of printed and online versions is absolutely identical. All issues of “Ores and Metals” are available on http://rm.tsnigri.ru.

December 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of publication of the first issue of the scientific and technical journal Ores and Metals.

The history of the journal dates back to December 1992, when the leadership of TsNIGRI, the leading research institute of the Russian geological industry, decided to create a new periodical intended to inform the geological community about significant achievements in the study of mineral resources in Russia and all over the world.

The editorial board is proud of the team of our active authors. Leading scientists of the geological industry of almost all key scientific institutions and organizations, universities, mining companies, and geological expeditions of the Russian Federation cooperate with the journal. Our authors are both theoretical scientists and practical geologists. The journal discusses a wide range of issues of subsoil use, economics and conjuncture of mineral commodities, methods of forecasting, prospecting, and evaluation of ore deposits, comprehensive use of mineral raw materials, and exploration technologies. The geography of activity of our authors and the breadth of the research interests demonstrate the presence of a huge scientific, technical, and technological potential of engineering and working personnel in Russia.

For these 30 years, more than 1750 scientific articles on many urgent problems of the reproduction of the mineral resource base of solid minerals in Russia have been published in the journal Ores and Metals. Special issues of the journal were devoted to the development strategy of the geological industry in the changing economic environment, the main scientific and technical achievements of TsNIGRI, such as a revision of reserve of the giant Sukhoi Log gold deposit, as well as to the memory of outstanding geologists and the scientific and applied significance of their creative heritage. The journal also published abstracts of reports at scientific and practical conferences and materials of meetings and symposiums on the relevant subjects.

Since 2007, the Higher Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia has included the journal Ores and Metals into the List of scientific publications in which the main scientific results should be published of dissertations for the degrees of Candidate of Science and of Doctor of Science (Earth and Environmental Sciences), and the journal has also become one of the peer-reviewed scientific periodicals listed in international abstract databases and citation systems. All the publications are transferred to the Scientific Electronic Library eLIBRARY.RU for inclusion into the Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) system.

Since 2021, the Ores and Metals journal is published with the support of the International Association for the Genesis of Ore Deposits (IAGOD, www.IAGOD.org), which indicates the high authority of the editorial board and creates favorable conditions for improving the quality of published articles, expanding the circle of the authors and readership. The journal Ores and Metals publishes articles both in Russian and or in English.

Since January 2022, the printed edition of Ores and Metals (ISSN 2782-554X) has been supplemented with the online version of the journal Ores and Metals (0869-5997). The editors of the journal adhere to the policy of maximum accessibility of published materials for the sustainable development of scientific knowledge.

Today, Ores and Metals is one of the leading Russian scientific journals in the field of Earth sciences. The high quality of the published scientific materials, the decent design, and a modern approach to interaction with the readership guarantee the growth of interest in the journal and its demand.

On the days of the 30th anniversary of Ores and Metals, the editorial board and all the editors express their deep gratitude to the authors and readers of the journal, who made a significant contribution to its formation and development.
