Lomonosov and Grib deposits containing 22,4% of the Russian total diamond reserves are mined in the north of
the East-European Platform. These deposits are located within Karelian-Kola megacraton (subprovince) where
diamondiferous magmatites belonging to five stages of tectonomagmatic activization have been proved to date.
Predictive-mineragenic studies performed by the authors confirm the high diamond potential of the area which is
reflected by a complex of diamond potential predictive criteria: structural-tectonic, deep (geophysical), mineralogical, facial-dynamic, etc. Territories of Zimneberezhny, North-Karelian and East-Karelian regions are the most
prospective ones for primary diamond deposits discovery. The areas within the junction of the Baltic Shield
and the Rusian Platform, as well as within the latter, are considered as prospective but underexplored requiring
additional studies. Forecasting-prospecting, methodical and investment problems which hinder diamond mineral
base replenishment are formulated and characterized, their main solutions are suggested.
